Learn to use a Sewing Machine

Understand how to set up, use and maintain your sewing machine. You will learn to adjust the tension and select the right attachments to produce samples demonstrating straight stitching, stretch stitching, piping, blind hemming, zip insertion, buttonholes and more.

Entry requirements

Bring your own sewing machine, manual and accessories. Assorted fabrics including thick, thin, sheer and stretchy. Plain cotton fabric such as calico or lining for sample work, 25cm of elastic. Range of needles and threads and a button. Notebook and pencil. If your machine has not been used or serviced recently then please make sure that it is in good working order.
