This course is designed to provide you with many of the skills required by employers. It is an in-depth two-year programme that covers a wide range of topics which combine the academic and practical expertise required by the relevant professions. By the end of the programme you will receive a nationally recognised qualification that will help you seek your first position in information technology. The course will cover the following compulsory modules: Computer Programming; Work Based Learning Project 1; Communication Systems; Quantitative Methods; Computer Systems and Internet Technologies; Database Techniques; Systems Development Project; Work Based Learning Project 2; Information Analysis; Web Database Applications; Database Applications Technologies; and Network and Operating Systems. Assessment is through a mix of coursework, examinations and work based learning projects. You will have regular meetings with your personal tutor to discuss your progress and to help plan your studies. Additional support, help and guidance is also available from the guidance team or from our Study Buddies (a network of students offering help to fellow students).
