Construction involves the whole building process, from initial planning to completion of multi-million pound projects. Training takes place in our modern workshop, and courses will include a general construction overview with the option to specialise in one of many trades or learn a selection. This course aims to prepare learners to enter their chosen craft, or to further their knowledge through additional qualifications. This course is one year, full time and can be studied at either Easton or Otley Campus. COURSE CONTENT Learners will be taught to industry standards and will have a basic understanding of their chosen vocational trade. In this pathway, students learn the skills needed to be successful in the bricklaying industry. The course gives equal importance to practical assessment, and theory and written work. As such, this course is split 50/50 between workshops and classrooms. Course content includes (subject to change): * Health, Safety and Welfare in Construction and Associated Industries * Knowledge of Technical Information, Quantities and Communication with others. * Knowledge of Construction Technology * Setting Out for Basic Masonry Structures * Mix Construction * Materials * Construct Block Walling * Construct Brick Walling * Construct Cavity Walling * Functional Skills in English, Maths and IT. PROGRESSION Progression opportunities from this course includes the Level 2 qualification in Bricklaying, or onto an apprenticeship
