Manual Handling Incorrect manual handling is one of the most common causes of injury at work. It causes work-related musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) which account for over a third of all workplace injuries. Manual handling injuries can happen anywhere people are at work – on farms and building sites, in factories, offices, warehouses, hospitals, banks, laboratories, and while making deliveries. Heavy manual labour, awkward postures, manual materials handling, and previous or existing injury are all risk factors in developing MSDs. Taking this four hour course will allow you to: Understand potential problems with manual handling activities Understand the law surrounding manual handling Learn the best practice for dealing with manual handling The 8 steps to safe lifting Understand where to look for further information regarding manual handling tasks Demonstrate to an employer that you have an understanding of safe techniques for manual handling The course is suitable for all levels of learners and appropriate needs can be taken into consideration for all learners. We will discuss this with you before you enrol to ensure you are on the most suitable course.
