Hand Painted Furniture and Decoupage Techniques

UPDATED 20150505 14:12:28

Learn the basic techniques required to transform and revamp a small piece of furniture such as a chair, small table or storage box. You will be able to see a range of completed projects that include two-colour distressing, decoupage, stencilling, brush techniques and a variety of different wax and varnish finishes. See how colours are mixed and combined to give a range of different effects and then choose the style and finish for your project. You will practise different techniques on boards before applying your chosen finish to your project. We will be using quick drying chalk paints for two colour distressing so brushes etc may be easily washed in soap and water. Open to anyone wishing to up-cycle an old piece of furniture and learn painting techniques and decoupage. Aimed at beginners level. To teach students practical skills which will enable them to develop their own individual projects. Transforming a small piece of furniture either from your home, a charity shop or freecyle, using a variety of techniques. It is most likely that you will need to complete your project at home as the first layer of decoupage/ paint (depending on which technique you chose to do) will need to dry before being finished. You will experiment with different techniques and effects during the workshop using a practise board that you will take home at the end of the evening.
