With the advent of lottery funding and the launch of the UK Coaching Certificate (UKCC), the role of the equestrian coach has been revolutionised in the last few years. Today's coach now plays a vital role in the development of equestrian sporting performance and coaching is no longer seen as purely teaching but has progressed to provide a more holistic approach. Key knowledge areas such as sports psychology, nutrition, biomechanics, fitness and new technology are vital to the coach in order to enable horse and rider partnerships to fulfil their potential. If you are passionate about sports coaching and developing specialist knowledge in equestrian training then this is the course for you. One of the defining features of this programme is that you will be able to choose equitation modules throughout the course and the British Horse Society/UKCC syllabus has been fully embedded into them. All Equitation modules have been approved by the BHS. The degree programme can either be studied purely academically as a three year programme or can be studied as a four year 'Sandwich' degree.
