All aspects of musicianship are studied in the A level course. The coursework is divided equally between a 6 minute recital performance which needs to be of a grade V standard or above, a 3 minute composition which is created using Sibelius, Cubase and Reason software and a musical analysis exam. The course also includes 4 part writing for SATB alongside other compositional techniques and harmony and theory (grade V standard and above).There is also musical analysis of set works both audibly and from notation and studies in music history from 1500 to 1900. Music is accepted as an academic A level at all universities. You will need to be of a grade V standard in music theory and performance to be accepted onto the course.
