Close relationships can be both the source of our greatest joy and of our deepest distress. Paradoxically it can be with the people to whom we are most attached that we find it hardest to maintain intimacy. How can we recognise our own patterns of attachment? Where did these patterns arise and how do we maintain them? Can this throw light on our own and our clients difficulties in close relationships? This workshop aims to provide an introduction to John Bowlbys Theory of Attachment, explore ways in which his ideas can enhance our personal understandings of close relationships and begin to explore how the concept of attachment can enrich our work with clients and be integrated with the perspective of Individual Psychology
