This qualification will aim to give you an introduction to the role of the professional taxi and private hire driver and on completion of the course enable you to apply for your taxi licence. Content You will study the following units; • Health and safety in the work environment of the taxi and private hire driver • How to transport passengers safely and in relative comfort • To provide professional customer service • How to maintain a taxi or private hire vehicle to a legal standard for the safe transport of fee-paying passengers • How to operate a hackney carriage or private hire vehicle within the regulatory framework pertaining to the licencing requirements in which you are licenced to transport passengers • How to provide a transport service for passengers who require assistance • How to transport parcels, luggage and other items • How to transport children and young people • Preparation for the knowledge test

You are allowed one free re-sit for each unit failed. After that should you need to re-sit an exam there will be a charge of £25 per unit. Please note that for each exam that is taken photographic identification of yourself is required and this can either be your passport or your full driving licence (paper and card).
