Family pottery How will this course help me? Learn hand building techniques to make fun objects from clay. Have a go on a potter's wheel. Who is the course for? All abilities. This course is not assessed and is intended for both adults and children to have fun and learn together. What can I expect to learn? where clay is found its qualities how to create small models and pinch pots from it how to make slab and coil pots how to make a pot on a potter’s wheel. How will I learn? There may be demonstrations, a chance to ask questions and to practice at your own pace. There are no exams or formal assessments. If you think you may need extra help with your learning, please ask your tutor or the Centre staff. We will try to help you. How will I know how well I am doing? The tutor will help you to recognise how well you are doing and what you need to do to improve. This may include developing your own learning plan. Will I have to do any work outside of the sessions? You may be given tasks or activities to complete to practice in between and prepare for the next and future sessions. You tutor will give guidance at the first session. What will I need to provide? Wear old clothes and bring an apron, overall or old shirt. If you know what you would like to make, bring along pictures, drawings or notes that might help you. Will there be any other costs? (e.g. materials, books, registration with a professional body, etc.? You may be provided with a reading list to support your learning. All of the costs of this course are covered in the advertised course fee.
