You learn how to provide an IT service. This could involve installing new hardware and software and carrying out upgrades. As an apprentice IT technician, your job could also involve helping staff and customers solve faults and technical problems, as well as giving users support. You need to have experience of, or interest in, computers. A responsible attitude and commitment to this type of work is important. You will also be expected to dress smartly when you are on your placement in a professional setting.
