You would normally progress on to this course from the Level 2 Certificate in Electrotechnical Technology. Apprenticeships allow you to gain qualifications whilst working – you will normally study one day per week in college and spend the rest of the week at work, usually at least 30 hours per week. This apprenticeship will cover aspects of the industry including electrical installation science and technology, fault rectification, inspection and testing, as well as introducing you to electrical regulations. To join the course at Level 2 you will need 5 GCSEs at A*–D, including Maths and Science and for Level 3 you should either have a Level 2 Diploma at Merit or above, Intermediate Apprenticeship, or GCSEs including Maths and a Science (A*-C).
