This is a cutting-edge qualification that has been developed to meet the needs of today's workforce. Industry respected, this qualification bears the CACHE hallmark of excellence for anyone wanting to work in a supervisory capacity with children in a variety of childcare settings, including health, education, social services, public, private and voluntary sectors. It is equivalent to three A Levels, and carries a maximum of 360 UCAS tariff points. All students need to complete 9 mandatory units including: An introduction to working with children. Development from conception to age 16 years. Supporting children Keeping children safe The principles underpinning the role of the practitioner working with children. Promoting a healthy environment for children Play and learning in children's education Caring for children Development of professional skills within children's education. Plus 3 option units which will be chosen by your centre. The course is assessed by assignment or portfolio for each unit, plus a 1 hour test (seen case study) in year 1 and an externally marked research task submitted in year 2. You must pass all units in the first year to progress to the second year of the course. This course includes placements in primary schools with KS1 age group, in private day nurseries with toddlers and also the opportunity to work with babies up to 11 months old There will be guest speakers who are practicing health and social care professionals Tutors will use a range of teaching methods and try to adapt to your preferred learning style We regularly seek your feedback to improve and develop the course
