Myerscough College offers opportunity to study at level 3 (A level equivalent) for students who wish to develop a comprehensive understanding of Football Studies encompassing practical techniques, academic knowledge and technical skills. It is a popular option for both school leavers and successful Level 2 Diploma students. The course incorporates a mix of practicals, classroom lectures, industry visits and case study exercises. Students will also receive training and assessment in a range of additional qualifications, which will enhance their employability. Myerscough College Football Development Centre combines academic sporting qualifications with practical skills development, coaching and competitive fixtures. The course is designed for students who wish to develop a comprehensive overview of the sports industry, with a specific focus on football. List of Units: Assessing Risk in Sport, Exercise, Health and Lifestyle, Fitness Testing for Sport and Exercise, Fitness Training and Programming, Principles of Anatomy and Physiology in Sport, Psychology for Sports Performance, Physical education & the care for young children, Sports Coaching, Sports Injuries, The Physiology of Fitness, The Athlete's Lifestyle, Organising Sports Events, Analysis of Sports Performance, Instructing Physical Activity and Exercise, Practical Team Sports, Sports Nutrition, Talent Identification and Development in Sport, Technical and Tactical Skills in Sport, Rules, regulations & Officiating in sport. This list is an example of what may be taught, but can vary at each Centre. All work is assessed via assignments, presentations, practicals and reports. There are no formal examinations at the end of the course. Employment opportunities in Football and its related industries are currently very good.
