Course content The BTEC Introductory Diploma aims to: Develop a range of skills and techniques, understanding, personal qualities and attitudes essential for successful employment opportunities Develop learners’ abilities in Travel & Tourism through the knowledge and skills gained on completion of all units of the qualification Explore the Travel & Tourism industry and related specialist sectors. The BTEC Level 1 Diploma offers a broad introduction to a vocational sector and develops the personal skills and attributes that learners need in order to increase confidence in their ability to work, learn and achieve their full potential. Outline of skills and knowledge Units of study will be selected from the following options: Conduct at Work Investigating Rights and Responsibilities at Work Speaking Confidently at Work Being Responsible for other People’s Money Researching a Tourist Destination Planning For and Taking Part in a Visit Displaying Travel and Tourism Information Customer Service in Travel and Tourism Displaying Travel and Tourism Products and Services Planning a Trip to a Visitor Attraction UK Travel Destinations Recommending a Package Holiday Schedule, Charter and Low-Cost Airlines The Role of Air Cabin Crew The Role of Overseas Resort Representative Planning and Participating in an Event Travel and Tourism Group Project Work Experience in Travel and Tourism Planning for a Job in Travel and Tourism What have students who have taken this course in the past progressed to? Progression to level 2 courses including a level 2 Diploma in Travel & Tourism. How will I learn? Through a combination of theory and practical work e.g. customer service.

This gives you the chance to explore the opportunities offered in that sector, and to acquire appropriate vocational skills. All of the assignments are externally moderated by Edexcel and an overall grade of a Pass will be awarded upon completion of the course.
