Media Studies looks at long established media like film, looks at the recent technical innovations like CGI, it explores the world of viral marketing and high concept cinema. It also analyses the medium of television, the way in which characters are created, the use of stereotyping and the impact of dramatic storylines. The subject also embraces the world of popular music, the creation of the music video and the concept art that accompanies it. Equally as relevant today is the ever changing landscape of video games, from the gameplay to the marketing strategies, all of which are relevant areas of study. Within these disciplines is a wealth of academic theory to engage with, and equally importantly is the creation of media artefacts. If you fancy yourself as a film maker, music video director, or graphic designer, this may well be the course for you.
