This is an intensive one year course that offers students the opportunity to become fully equipped for progression to degree application nationally in all the major areas of art and design. The course is ideal for post A-level students who are unsure which art and design subject to specialise in as it provides an insight into a wide range of subject areas. It is also suitable for those students who have identified their area of art and design preference as it gives a confirmatory experience and an intensive preparation for successful degree study. Initially, students explore the main topics intrinsic to Fine Art, Fashion and Textiles, Graphics and 3D alongside a programme of drawing and investigation of contemporary art and design. This is followed by a concentrated period of focused work within the students own choice of specialism during which students are supported and guided through their UCAS applications by dedicated, specialist tutors. Students benefit from visiting a range of key exhibitions across the country, excellent progression into university and are encouraged to exhibit and sell their work. The final stage of the course culminates with an exhibition and celebration of student work. *Mature students (aged 21 or above) who do not have the formal qualifications are also welcome. Final grades will give the maximum UCAS point score 285.
