Level 3 Work based Apprenticeship in Horticulture

This qualification is designed for those with some previous experience of horticulture and wanting to work in outdoor jobs and combines knowledge and practical work with employment experience. The course reflects the skills and knowledge needed to pursue a career in amenity horticulture. Advanced Apprentices superivise the work of others, plan the daily routine and evaluate how work is carried out. Typical units for this qualification include promote, monitor and maintain health, safety and security of the workplace estimate and programme resources requirements for landscaping, manage your own resources, specify the maintenance of landscapes, monitor landscape maintenance and inspect landscape features and facilities. During the course you will also cover: •Employers rights and responsibilities workbook •Apprenticeship logbook ‘Horticulture' covers a wide range of activities and involves the undertaking of practical tasks. There is an expectation that learners will have a reasonable level of fitness. If a learner is in any doubt about the course details, they should discuss their concerns with the course tutor before they enrol. Assessments are of a practical and theoretical nature and are carried out throughout the course. This can be done by a range of methods including written and verbal assessment. Most of the evidence of competence will be gathered in the workplace. Successful candidates may also progress onto level 4
