City & Guilds VRQ Level 2 Diploma in Beauty Therapy

This course covers a wide range of beauty applications concentrating on the face, hands and feet. The method of learning is by a mixture of both practical and theory sessions. Your course may include one late evening per week. The practical and theoretical aspects you will study include: - Manicure/Pedicure - Facials for Men and Women - Make-up - Waxing - Threading - Eye Treatments - Working in Industry - Anatomy and Physiology - Retail and Reception - Client Care and Communication - Health and Safety - Teamwork You will also study Functional Skills or GCSE English and Maths dependent on your results for these at entry. After successful completion of this course you could progress to VRQ Level 3 Beauty Therapy or Nail Technology; Hairdressing VRQ Level 2; or Diploma in Complementary Therapies. Alternatively, you may choose to seek employment in a beauty salon or work as a freelance therapist. This course is for students who wish to gain entry to a Level 3 qualification or employment.

Name: City & Guilds VRQ Level 2 Diploma in Beauty Therapy Qualification title: Diploma in Beauty Therapy (QCF) Qualification type: Assessment Through practical, oral, online and written exams. You will need to produce assignments to a deadline. A portfolio of work is also required as supporting evidence. All assignments will be Word processed and submitted online. Personal appearance is part of the awarding body's criteria. You will be expected to adhere to a strict dress code: no jewellery, long hair tied back, short un-varnished nails and a specified uniform to be worn. Entry requirements

Students will be required to purchase the following prior to enrolment: - Beauty Therapy Kit - approximately £300 - Text Books - approximately £30 - Uniform - approximately £55.75 Students aged 19 and over by 1st September will be required to pay exam and registration fees of approximately £95 at enrolment. To enhance this course we arrange trips to trade shows and offer extra optional courses, which will incur additional costs. Please allow approximately £50. Ask your interviewer for more details.
