Intermediate Apprenticeship (Level 2) in Barbering

Learners work towards attaining a City & Guilds NVQ Diploma in Barbering, This consists of theory and practical tuition. The practical elements are delivered in the work place, including assessments, whilst the theory can be delivered either in the workplace or at the training academy. This is agreed on an individual basis with the employer and the learner. Knowledge is tested via City & Guilds e-volve online testing system. Learners also study Employment Rights & Responsibilities and Functional Skills in Mathematics and English and these four components make up the full framework qualification. In addition learners will complete the personal learning and thinking skills workbook. Learners must be employed in salon (for a minimum of 30 hours per week) . Whilst studying for the apprenticeship the candidates will be paid the National Minimum Apprenticeship Wage - subject to the relevant conditions. Further details of this can be obtained from the Placement Team at NHTA. During the interview process NHTA will gather information about the candidates including prior knowledge which will be used to form an individual programme for each learner. The default time for the Barbering course has been set to 12 months however, some individualised programmes may require up to 15 months.
