Next Steps

Next Steps is designed to develop your academic and work skills so that you can progress onto a Level 1 course or into work. You will study Literacy, Numeracy, ICT and vocational options. You will be taught in small groups, with class support, and your progress will be monitored regularly in tutorial sessions. We will assess your individual needs at your initial interview, and if necessary, additional support will be arranged to help you achieve your learning goals. This is a one year course, the pattern of attendance is sixteen hours per week over four days. Students who are working at Entry level 2 or 3 and who wish to progress onto a Level 1 course or are planning to move into full time employment.

Entry requirements

Depending on the option chosen, work experience will be a mandatory part of the course. This may take place within, or outside, the College depending on learner capabilities and placement availability. Students are required to purchase their own stationery. If you are aged 19 or over on 1st September there will be an examination fee of approximately £70 payable at enrolment.
