This qualification offers understanding by empowering students to work with media products, production processes and technologies. This leads to practical and creative skills that transfer into the workplace. Unit choices cover a range of media including print, radio, television, film, animation and design. Students opting for Level 2 in Design & Creative Media should have a keen interest and be enthusiastic about Creative Arts. The course aims to provide a broad based approach to the creative arts world. It gives students the opportunity to acquire and develop their visual communication skills and techniques using a wide range of media and materials. The course is designed to give students a good foundation for further training and employment and is closely linked to creative arts in the professional world.

You will be internally and externally assessed through short answer tests and assignments set and marked by your lecturers. These assignments may be set assignments, projects or case study work and evidence may be in the form of any of the following: • Written reports • Creative products • Projects & project plans • Performance-observation records • Practical assessments • Audio-visual recordings • Sketchbook, a working logbook etc. • Presentations. Two units are externally assessed, which includes an online multiple answer test.
