Retail programmes are available to people looking to work in retail and who want to learn the skills needed for a successful career in the industry. Retail programmes allow you to develop an understanding of how the sector operates while enabling you to decide which area of retail you feel most comfortable working in. There are eight job areas that cover the multitude of career options in the retail sector Store Operations, Human Resources/Training, Finance and Administration, Buying, Customer Contact Centres, Marketing, Logistics and Information Technology (IT). These eight areas are common in any category of retail from grocery stores, electrical stores, to fashion outlets. Retail is a vast, diverse industry with establishments ranging from corner shops to multi-national chains, but whatever their size, retailers need skilled and motivated staff. Retail NVQ Level 3 is made up of 1 mandatory unit plus a wide selection of optional units up to a credit value of a minimum of 40 and a Technical Certificate – Retail knowledge at level 3. Functional Skills - English, Mathematics and IT level 1.
