Level 2 Diploma in Work-Based Animal Care Independent Assessment level 2 Lantra Employment Rights and Responsibilities Personal Learning and Thinking Skills Functional Skills in English and Maths at level 1 Pathways available in the Intermediate Apprenticeship are: Animal Care and Welfare Zoos/Wildlife Establishments Dog Grooming Pet Care and Retail Animal Training The vast majority of development will take place within the work place. This will typically involve the learner/candidate developing their skills through observing others perform activities, learning from the supervisor and practising themselves. The more learning opportunities that are provided the greater range of skills and competence the learner/candidate will acquire. To gain the chosen qualification the learner/candidate is required to collect evidence to demonstrate that they are competent and skilled in a range of different activities. This will involve identifying tasks that occur naturally within the workplace to demonstrate particular skills. The assessor will observe the learner/candidate carrying out specific tasks within the workplace to ensure that their work is consistent and to the required standard. They will also examine other forms of evidence that the learner/candidate can collect i.e. witness testimony, written work, photographic evidence or video/audio tape. The assessor may also use oral questioning or short written tests, as appropriate, for the learner/candidate. The assessment visits will usually take place at regular intervals and the KEITS assessor will provide ongoing support both in person and via telephone/email throughout the Apprenticeship for the employee.
