This flexible course, aimed at women with an interest in furniture making and design, is taught in a safe and friendly workshop environment which is well equipped with hand tools and machines. The course is taught by a woman lecturer and technician. The aim of the course is to provide students with a range of basic skills to be able to make small projects. You will start by making a simple project to develop basic skills. As your skills develop you will make a simple item of furniture or a project of your own design at the tutor’s discretion. You will be taught by Anna Childs, an experienced furniture maker and designer who runs her own furniture making business in Sheffield. A great course for anyone with an interest in woodwork as a hobby or looking to take up furniture making as a career. Learners will make a small pine shelf (materials provided), and then research, design and make a small table/stool or box/cupboard.
