Bakery Level 1

You will spend time doing practical activities in the bakery to develop your basic skills in confectionery and bread production. You will prepare baked goods for sale in the College. There is a classroom element of the course where you will look at the theory of cooking processes to help you prepare for the assessments. You will cover topics such as Food safety, cooking techniques and costing. You are expected to study functional skills in English and maths where necessary and are expected to work independently on project work away from the college.

Name: Bakery Level 1 Qualification title: Award in Food Safety in Catering (QCF) Qualification type: Assessment Approximately 20% of the course is theory, assessed by a series of short answer test papers. Part of this theory will also cover food safety and health and safety awareness. The practical elements will involve working in a commercial setting in our bakery covering all aspects of traditional and modern bakery production. Entry requirements

You will be expected to join ABST at an approximate cost of £15. You will need to purchase some specialist equipment before the start of the course.
