he AQA English Language and Literature A-level combines the study of English Language and Literature, drawing on experiences at GCSE as well as offering a secure foundation for the study of English beyond A-level. Covering a range of classic and contemporary poetry, prose and drama texts, the course aims to develop an interest in, and enjoyment of, independent reading and to develop the students' responses as critics of both literary and non-literary texts. You will also look at speech and how language is adapted in different situations. First Year of Course: AS Level English Language & Literature (0.5 A-LEVEL) During the first year students will study units designed to encourage exploration of language, building their analytical skills in responses to both literary and non-literary texts. Second Year of Course: A2 Level English Language & Literature (1 A-LEVEL) During the final year, students will consolidate their skills through critical and creative responses to texts. They will also be required to apply their skills and knowledge of literary and linguistic concepts to spoken language, analysing speech.
