The manual handling of loads causes almost half of all industrial injuries, the majority of which are back related. This workshop gives an introduction to the legislation and duties facing both the employer and the employee and raises awareness of the types of injuries caused through incorrect handling. It also looks at the physical structure of the spine and its inherent weaknesses, kinetic handling techniques and considers the component parts of a lifting operation
