The NCFE Level 3 Award in Counselling Skills and Theory is aimed to help students to: 1. Develop skills to a safe level of practice 2. Understand counselling theory 3. Understand professional issues related to being a practitioner 4. Undertake self development and assessment 5. Be able to put counselling practice in daily use whilst promoting equal opportunity.
Name: Counselling Skills and Theory Level 3 Award Qualification title: NCFE Award at Level 3 in Counselling Skills and Theory Qualification type: Assessment Assessment: NCFE require that 80% attendance is essential because most of the learning takes place within the group. Internal Assessment: Each candidate must create a portfolio of evidence which demonstrates all learning outcomes associated with each unit. The main pieces of evidence will be a) An on-going reflective weekly journal. b) A personal development plan. c) A case study involving 3 x taped transcripts, referral agency assignment. d) Simulated interviews/skills practice through role play. Externally Set Assessment: Each candidate is required to undertake an externally set assignment. This paper assesses knowledge aspects of the qualification sampled from all of the five units. It will be taken over a four week period with a short tutorial session with the tutor in the second week. Assessment must be submitted in the fourth week. The pass mark for the externally set assessment is 50%. Candidates must pass both the internal assessment and the externally set assignment.
