AAT Level 4 develops many of the themes explored at Level 3 although there is a greater emphasis on analysis and evaluation. Learners will discover the legal and regulatory framework surrounding the financial statements of limited companies while two costing modules place a heavy emphasis on planning, decision-making and control. Candidates will also have the opportunity to study two option units which in recent years have been Business and Personal Tax.

The Internal Systems module has one Synoptic Assessment that also draws in content from the other core modules. Candidates who score highly enough across the whole level will be able to achieve Merit and Distinction grades.
