Through completion of this apprenticeship learners will gain broad-based training in the chosen occupational area with a good knowledge base of the sector as a whole, work experience that leads to competency in the work place and transferable skills. Adult social care employers are increasingly looking to apprenticeships, and in particular this framework, as a way to effectively train their workforce and new staff. Staff working in the health or social care sectors can move between the sectors, by using the appropriate award for continuing professional development and by obtaining a qualification or units relevant to the new role. The duration of this apprenticeship is generally 18-24 months.
