The Software Development course was conceived around the industry-based need for a new generation of creative problem solvers equipped with skills to enable them to work effectively in teams, exchange ideas efficiently, collaborate on complex problems, build prototypes and test solutions. Whilst we teach software design and programming, the focus is on problem solving, critical thinking and exposure to the end-to-end project lifecycle. The Software Development Subsidiary Diploma is the 2nd year and follows on from the Certificate and is the equivalent to a full A level. The Software Development course also aims to build entrepreneurial skills and students will pitch business ideas to industry experts. You will study internet technologies, and create your own server side software with php, MySQL and javascript. The web software you make for this course will be available on line so you can include the URL for it in your CV which should help with work and university applications. You will study Unity, a game development ecosystem: a powerful rendering engine fully integrated with a complete set of intuitive tools and rapid workflows to create interactive 3D content; easy multiplatform publishing; thousands of quality, ready-made assets in the Asset Store and a knowledge-sharing Community. For independent developers and studios, Unity's democratizing ecosystem smashes the time and cost barriers to creating uniquely beautiful games. They are using Unity to build a livelihood doing what they love: creating games that hook and delight players on any platform.
