The Health and Social Care programme Level 2 is designed to reflect the work of those who deliver Health and Social Care to adults. This qualification is about direct care where the focus is hands-on care, enablement care and development and maintenance of the clients independence. Learners will usually be delivering care in support of and under the direction of a colleague who is accountable in the area of practise. Although this person may not always be in the immediate vicinity while the candidate is working with clients, the learner would be expected to seek support, advice and assistance if they are unclear about what to do. This qualification can be taken as an Apprenticeship or NVQ only. An Apprenticeship will cover additional elements such as functional skills and a technical certificate in Health and Social Care.
