The qualification in Playwork is for staff working directly with children and young people in a setting which provides opportunities for freely chosen, self-directed play. Such staff do not have full responsibility for the play environment but make a significant contribution to supporting the play of those aged between 4 and 16. Learners may be working as playworkers, assistant playworkers or children?s holiday representatives amongst other roles. The qualifications are also suitable for those working in children?s centres or children?s services. This qualification can be taken as an Apprenticeship or NVQ only. An Apprenticeship will cover additional elements such as functional skills and a technical certificate in Playwork plus a First Aid Certificate in Paediatrics.
