Who is the course for? This course is suitable for young people, and some adult learners, who wish to study full time and gain a qualification in Health and Social Care in order to progress to Higher Education or employment. What can it lead to? On successful completion of this course you could top up to the Extended Diploma in Health and social Care, which can progress to Higher Education. Relevant degree courses could include; nursing, midwifery, social/youth work or teaching. Alternatively you could seek employment in health and social care settings such as hospitals, surgeries, nursing and care homes. What will I study? You will study a number of mandatory and optional units to achieve a total of 90 credits in order to complete the qualification. These are some examples of units you may study: Developing Effective Communication in Health and Social Care; Equality, Diversity and Rights in Health and Social Care; Development through the Life Stages; Anatomy and Physiology for Health and Social Care; Sociological and Psychological Perspectives for Health and Social Care; Infection Prevention and Control and Research Methodology in Health and Social Care. You will also develop your research and study skills through individual and group project work.
