This course is ideal for those who wish to learn and practice basic Counselling Skills and learn more about the Counselling process. It is useful for those involved in the helping professions and in a voluntary capacity. The course is accredited with CPCAB and offers a pathway to further accredited training in the Counselling profession. Please expect the sessions to include a variety of tasks such as regular roleplay, triad work for skills development and which will be tutor observed as part of the assessment process. There may potentially be an emotional impact from some of the subjects discussed and for this reason we do not recommend friends or family members attending the course at the same time. Please also expect to have to complete a learning journal evaluating your experiences during the class/reflection during the week and for which you should allow approx. 3 hours time spent on this homework each week. As this will form the basis of your portfolio, you will need to put time aside to complete this fully. You will need to attend 8/10 sessions to comply with the CPCAB requirements and there will be no extension to the 10 weeks if your work is delayed for any reason.
