The ACCA Qualification is globally recognised and respected, and demand for qualified accountants remains solid because standard accounting skills are still essential to firms. Not only that but roughly a fifth of all graduate vacancies on offer are in Accountancy (AGR survey Summer 2012). Wherever you go in the world there are always opportunities for qualified accountants, be it in small or large organisations, from the voluntary sector through to the corporate sector. There are lots of rewards to becoming an accountant. As well as the financial rewards, you can also gain some serious credibility for being professionally qualified. Once you qualify with ACCA, you can put the letters after your name and employers will know that you're working to the highest standard. It's a prestigious and recognised profession. The average starting salary is £26.5K (AGR Summer Survey, 2012) and once you qualify your earning potential can only go up. There will always be opportunities across all areas of accountancy - such as financial accountancy, management accountancy and, particularly during the recession, risk and regulation and business restructuring.
