If your place of work has apprentices as part of the employee make up, then you might want to consider this short course in Mentoring Apprentices. The aim of the course is to develop trained, role-specific mentors who are equipped to support apprentices through either part of, or their entire scheme. You'll identify why apprenticeships are a union issue, learn to recognise the importance of mentoring and develop the skills to mentor effectively. You'll also explore the socio-economic and geo-political issues that affect apprentices in the workplace, alongside discussions regarding the government's aspirational agenda on apprenticeship programmes. Using the Unionlearn Apprenticeships Toolkit, your union policies and your employer practices & expectations, you'll complete the course by producing an action plan and mentoring template suitable for your workplace.
