During this course you will study a total of nineteen units. Eight core units will provide a general foundation and eleven specialist units will introduce you to particular topics in more depth. Core units: ; Principles of anatomy and physiology ; Physiology of fitness ; Assessing risk in sport ; Sports coaching ; Sports development ; Fitness testing for Sport and Exercise ; Practical team sports ; Fitness training and programming Specialist units: ; Sports nutrition ; Psychology for sports performance ; Sport and exercise massage ; Work experience in Sport ; Exercise, health and lifestyle ; Sports injuries You will also have the opportunity to undertake additional coaching qualifications and Emergency First Aid qualifications. Alongside your main programme of study you will also study either GCSE or Functional Skills in English and Maths if you have not achieved a GCSE grade C or above. If you have achieved a grade C or above in GCSE English and Maths, you will engage in extending these skills through a Directed Study Programme.
