The aim of this course is to encourage learners to develop confidence in, and a positive attitude towards, mathematics with an increased focus on applying mathematics in context, problem-solving, reasoning and the functional elements of mathematics. The course is for you if you want to improve your mathematical skills for work, further study or personal development and need, or would like, to gain the GCSE mathematics qualification. The course will follow the AQA syllabus and the qualification is gained by taking exams at the end of the course, in June. *This course is free to those learners who have not yet achieved A*-C in GCSE mathematics, although a retainer fee of £50 will be required upon enrolment to secure your place. This will be refunded upon completion of the course and the exams in June. It is recognised that in order to achieve the required result, you need to be able to give 80% attendance. Priority will be given to new learners. You will need to attend a pre-course interview on Monday 12 September at 7pm, please contact the centre for more information.
