Do you want to start your own Business? Be your own boss? Do you have a great business idea?Then this course could be for you! We are looking for ambitious young students who would like to learn the skills necessary to start a business.This innovative and exciting one year course is a practical introduction to starting your own business and is broadly equivalent to 1 to 1.5 A Levels. The course is designed to be different with talks and presentations from local business experts, speakers, master classes and workshops . You will be networking with local businesses and visiting their companies to hear their success stories. Plus local, national and international firms offer real-life business expertise and work placement opportunities to our students and graduates. As part of the course you will:* Work on real life business challenges* Write a business plan and pitch your business idea * Attend master classes, workshops, micro business surgeries and networking events* Receive coaching from real business owners* Run a micro-business* Spend up to a 4 week placement in a local businessAttending 3 days a week, students on this programme will be required to wear business suits or smart office wear every day. Approximately 30% of the course will be in collaboration with external employers and business owners as guest speakers or apprentice style competitions where students will gain experience of different aspects of the commercial environment. Students will be based in new modern office style rooms, take part in social enterprise and volunteering. In the third term of the course students will benefit from a one month work placement where they can learn at first hand what it's like to manage a successful business. After completing the course graduates will be invited to attend a graduation ceremony with leading members of the business community.
