This course is aimed at giving learners an idea of what life in the uniformed and public service is like. It is a very practical course which involves participation in various activities. Contents include: Investigate work in the uniformed services Physical fitness Teamwork Personal health and well-being Essential map reading and navigation Information technology Adventurous outdoor activities The course is made up of 11 units of competence. However learners are required to cover 5 mandatory units and 2 optional units. Plus nationally recognised Functional Skills qualifications. While on this course, learners will have the opportunity to undertake some work experience with uniformed and public services where possible and also enjoy a range of outdoor activities such as abseiling, canoeing and rock climbing during a 5 day residential.
