This course is for learners who enjoy caring for others and like helping people, but want to know more about what health and social care involves. It will give learners a good understanding of the health and care environments and help develop the skills needed to further a career within this sector. Contents include: Human Lifespan Development Health and Social Care Values Effective Communication Equality and Diversity Individual Rights Healthy Living Promoting Health and Wellbeing Human Body Systems and Care of Disorders Creative and Therapeutic Activities The Health and Social Care Sector There will be a work placement opportunity to observe and gain experience in a variety of care environments such as day centres, nursing and residential homes and drop-in centres, working with people of various ages with a variety of care needs. Visiting speakers in lessons will include dental health nurses, registered general nurses, support workers and managers, children's nurses and social workers.
