A BTEC National Diploma in Engineering is the ideal preparation for a career within an electrical/electronic, mechanical/ production, design or commercial or automotive/aeronautical environment. The course aims to help you develop the knowledge, understanding and skills which are vital elements of today's constantly changing industrial climate. You will also gain transferable skills such as English, mathematics and ICT. The course consists of nine subjects which have to be passed to achieve the qualification. Progression to the Extended Diploma will only be achieved by successful completion of the 90 Credit Diploma. The course will progressively introduce the theoretical and practical application of each technology, and provide an insight as to how they become interdependent within the real world. The BTEC Diploma gives you: • Ideal preparation for Higher Education • Ideal preparation for employment, including apprenticeships • Opportunity to develop skills, knowledge and understanding that underpin the creation of engineering products, engineering systems and services. Students could study a variety of subjects, such as: • Electrical/Electronics • Mechanical Technology • Drawing and CAD for Technicians • Maths for Technicians • Engineering Maintenance • Mechanical Measurement and Inspection Techniques • Setting and Proving Secondary Processing Machines • Health and Safety • Mechanical Principles.
