Acrylics and Oil Painting - Beginners

This course is for the student who enjoys both Oil and Acrylic or who would like to try both types of paints out. Using a selection of source materials, such as the work of previous artists, other pictorial and still life resources you will experiment with and practise drawing, colour mixing, acrylic and oil paint techniques, texture and composition. Projects could include, Landscapes, Portraiture, Still Life and you will encounter the work of a range of artists.

Entry requirements

If you are a new student and have no materials please wait for your tutor's advice on what to buy. However, all students should bring an A4 sketchbook of good quality cartridge paper, preferably with a hard cover and ring bound, and a variety of pencils. You will need to provide your own materials and these will vary in cost according to the course requirements. Some of our centres have their own 'shops' where you are able to buy materials at competitive prices. If you have any materials/equipment that might be appropriate please bring them with you.
