Jewellery Making - Beginners

This Jewellery course enourages working with hand tools to design and construct a range of metal/silver articles including rings, pendants and earrings. The tutor will demonstration various skills required to make jewellery including filing, fitting, hammering and soldering, these are the basic skills in the manipulation of metals gold, silver and copper etc. You will be encouraged to design your own Jewellery by looking at both historical and contemporary Jewellery design, this could include looking at the Art and Craft movement or the Egyptians or an interest you may have. Finishing techniques and the use of polishing spindle and flexidrive motor is also encouraged. You should try to wear dark clothing or an apron as the polishing can get clothing dirty. This course is for the beginners to the craft so you can all learn the same skills at the same time and support each other. , It is important to note that craft courses are practical and require a degree of manual dexterity.
