Painting for Beginners

The aim of this course is to give those who have little or no experience of painting a sound understanding of the basic principles. Through a series of art activities and projects you will be introduced, step by step, to a range of ideas and techniques and will gain confidence in using water based paint to create interesting and informed visual images. You will draw inspiration from a broad selection of primary and secondary resources and there will be scope for you to bring your own areas of interest to the sessions., , By the end of the course you should be able to,, • Understand the principles of basic colour theory and mix a range of colours with confidence, • Use colour tonally and blend paint together to create a three dimensional effect, • Add interest to a painting using mark making and texture, • Work from a range of primary and secondary subject matter, • Use water based paints with increased confidence, • Recognise and respond to the painting style and technique of selected artists , , , There is no set 'homework' but you are welcome to practise and do further work at home., There is no qualification for this course., , There is limited parking on site, but there is a public car park nearby and on-street parking. This course is suitable for beginners and those who have a little experience.
