Drawing and Painting - Beginners

This course is designed to teach students the basic techniques to drawing and painting and develop confidence and skills through a range of weekly tutored workshops. , , Students will explore a range of exciting materials, colour creation, light and shade, as well as artistic styles, applying techniques and tips to landscape, still life and personal projects. , , This course will be informative, challenging and fun., , By the end of the course students should be able to -, -Demonstrate an ability to mix a wide range of colours from the three primary colours., -Create an accurate drawing of still life studies using negative space and angles, -Blend watercolour or acrylic pigments to match resource images., -Demonstrate an ability to use a variety of techniques to create a visual impression of an image., , , , , Those who are new to Art or are returning to the subject., , It is important to note that Art courses are practical and require a degree of manual dexterity. If you need to bring a carer with you, or be accompanied by another person, please ask to speak with the Programme Manager before you enrol., ,

Entry requirements

First week - All students should bring an A3 sketchbook of good quality cartridge paper and a variety of pencils (HB and 2B are ideal). , During the course you will need to provide your own materials and these will vary in cost according to the course requirements. Please do not buy anything until you are sure the course is running and the tutor will advise you on further purchase at the start of the course.
