Oil Painting - Improvers

This course is a fabulous opportunity to get into the finer points and techniques of this form of painting. Students will gain experience in oil painting skills and techniques, focusing on individual projects and appreciating the historical context of artists in this field., , Students will be able to:, 1)Use the skills of recording and developing ideas to create a personal sketch book., 2)Explain and understand the ideas and influences of past masters/contemporary artists in relations to the development of their own works., 3)Plan and produce works which show the use of the essential elements in Drawing/painting, line, shape, volume, tone,colour., 4)Through talks, discussions and group critiques/gain skills of evaluating and analysing own/peers work. Students who have completed the Beginners course or have the equivalent experience.It is important to note that art courses are practical and require a degree of manual dexterity for you to participate fully and get the most out of the course.

Entry requirements

If you are a new student and have no materials please wait for your tutor's advice on what to buy. However, all students should bring an A4 sketchbook of good quality cartridge paper, preferably with a hard cover and ring bound and a variety of pencils.You will need to provide your own materials and these will vary in cost according to the course requirements. Some of our centres have their own 'shops' where you are able to buy things at competitive prices.If you have any materials/equipment that might be appropriate please bring them with you.
