This qualification is for two years. It is designed for any learners aged at least 16 years old who want to - work in an Early Years setting with children 0 - 5 years as an Early Year Educator - progress to Higher Education as the qualification carries UCAS points.The course is a two year programme. Students complete the Certificate in the first year and then progress on to the second year to complete the Diploma. The Diploma element carries UCAS allowing those students who wish to progress onto higher education to do so.Students will be required to complete 15 units 13 units are knowledge based and 2 competency-based.On completion of this qualification, learners will be equipped with knowledge and understanding in the following subjects - The stages and sequences of child development - Children's needs in relation to emotional and physical well-being - The role of the early years practitioner in maintaining a healthy and safe environment for children - Safeguarding children and child protection - Theoretical approaches to play and learning - The role of play in relation to children's learning and development - Working in partnership to meet children's additional needs - Child observation and assessment - Children's emergent literacy and numeracy - Reflective practice and professional development - Study skills. Students will also be required to complete 750 hours placement covering the age range from 0 - 5 in an Early Years setting. This practical experience helps students to link theory to practice.
